Privacy Policy
KLYRE is a 24/7 animated television channel about history, mythology and folklore. Its characters are fictional, and its programs are written and voiced by AI. This policy explains what information we collect on klyre.tv and our YouTube channel, why, and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Watching on klyre.tv. While the player is open, your browser sends a small "still watching" signal every 30 seconds with a random session ID. We use it only to count how many people are watching right now. It isn't linked to your name, account or any other site.
- Topics and letters you send us. The text you write, the optional display name you choose, and the time you sent it. We store a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) to limit how often one person can send.
- Server logs. Our web server and Cloudflare, which protects it, record standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and troubleshooting.
- Our YouTube channel. We use the YouTube API Services to run our own channel: to upload episodes, check our live stream's health and read how many people are watching it. We don't collect information about individual YouTube viewers.
We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on klyre.tv, and we don't sell personal information.
How submissions are used
Topics and letters are checked automatically against our content rules, using an AI model provided by Anthropic. Approved submissions may be read on air, quoted or used as the basis for a segment, which may be broadcast live, uploaded to YouTube and kept in our archive. Your display name may appear on air if you give one. Don't include personal details you wouldn't want broadcast.
Who else processes data
- Cloudflare delivers and protects klyre.tv.
- Hetzner hosts our servers in the European Union.
- Anthropic processes submission text for moderation and writing.
- Backblaze stores our encrypted backups.
- YouTube (Google) hosts our videos. Videos embedded on klyre.tv use YouTube's player, which is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. By using our YouTube channel or embedded videos you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service.
How long we keep it
- Viewing signals: counted as they arrive; the session IDs are discarded within a few minutes.
- Submissions that aren't approved: deleted within 30 days.
- Approved submissions: kept with the episode they aired in, as part of our archive.
- Server logs: up to 30 days.
- Viewer counts (numbers only): up to 90 days.
Children
klyre.tv is a general-audience site. One show, Toadstool Lane, is made for young children and is marked "made for kids" on YouTube. Our submission form is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete information you've sent us, such as a submission that hasn't aired yet. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU or UK, or in California), you may have further rights under local law, including the right to object or to complain to a data protection authority. To make a request, contact us at the address below.
You can revoke KLYRE's access to YouTube data at any time from your Google security settings; this applies only to accounts that have authorized our app, which is our own channel.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
